4 Pure Passion (Bet Now: $2.30) has been pretty good in three career outings and is one of the key chances. She comes through The Valley Pearl from a few weeks back. She was near the speed and tried her guts out but she couldn’t quite see it through. Like her back to 1100m and has versatility re racing pattern.

Danger

2 Just Kick (Bet Now: $4.80) is a daughter of Staphanos that is on debut for the very much in form Team Browne camp. She has had three jumpouts to get ready for start one, with just one this time in, but gee she looked impressive the way she won, which came here. Looks a good mover so watch betting.

Long Shot

5 Raison D’Rose (Bet Now: $23.00) should be better for the debut run, which came at Caulfield Heath in December when down the track, being quite raw and new to the caper. Couple of jumpouts under the belt, watch betting and the yard.

11 Tuscaloosa Gem (Bet Now: $1.70) looks to have a bit on these I feel. She debuted three weeks ago over 1000m here when near the speed and was there to put the race away. She looked the winner but had to settle for a second to Steamy Mist. Fitter, 1200m, depth here not deep…keen.

Danger

1 Drone Attack (Bet Now: $8.00) ran in the Steamy Mist race mentioned above. She got a fair way out of her ground and while she was never a winning threat, she did find the line and was pretty good in defeat I thought. Back up in trip is a positive and is a must for exotics.

Long Shot

3 Honey Maker (Bet Now: $6.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Cranbourne where she got back and made up decent headway without threatening. Think she can be ridden with more intent and outside the favourite, this is a thin race.

7 Amanoah (Bet Now: $2.25) is clearly the one. Busuttin/Young trained filly that resumed over 1400m at Cranbourne where she got a fair way back off the speed but closed off strongly in the straight when second to impressive winner Esternay. Fitter and up in trip, B Shinn on…looks her race.

Danger

8 Antiquus (Bet Now: $3.70) steps up to the mile for the Corstens/Larkin camp after debuting over 1400m at Benalla where she was one of the eye catchers of the meeting, closing off with real purpose late in the piece behind Whirlwind when a narrow second. Maps to settle much closer in the run and be effective late.

Long Shot

5 Lucky Chance (Bet Now: $11.00) is a son of Grunt that is on debut for Alex Rae. He has had three jumpouts in readiness for start one and has steadily improved with each outing, the latest seeing him place over 1400m. Good grounding and stable is in form.

Race 4. (18:45) Shawn Mendis Lawyers Mdn Plate 1400m

3 Daniel Boone (Bet Now: $2.35) has trialled up like a rocket and all things being equal, he should be taking care of this lot at start one. He has had three jumpouts in readiness for start one, the latest piece of work being an impressive win over 1300m at Bendigo. Grounding is here to say he is ready to rock and roll. Keen.

Danger

4 Factcheck… (Bet Now: $2.90) I think Robbie Laing is back at it again with a horse and running it over mixed distances. He ran over 1200m last Thursday night at Pakenham when wide no cover on speed and just felt the pinch late in the piece. Talent wise, he’s up to these…just 1400m is the query.

Long Shot

9 Jenni La Rock (Bet Now: $11.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m after resuming over 1200m at Cranbourne where she got a fair way back but liked the way she finished her race off. Fitter and up in trip, she’s an improver at a likely decent price.

4 Unconquerable (Bet Now: $2.70) seems the most obvious way to go. Price/Kent trained mare that was knocking on the door to win and that win came over this track/distance, landing on speed and looked the winner from a long way out. Lands in a plum spot and should prove hard to beat once again.

Danger

2 Primal Spirit (Bet Now: $4.00) is flying for Reece Goodwin and with his racing style, he’s going to take running down. He attempted to lead throughout over 1400m here last time out, giving a strong kick from the front but the end of 1400m just saw her out late in the piece. Back to 1200m, front end control, leading contender.

Long Shot

5 Catalina Black Cat (Bet Now: $17.00) comes back to Victoria after racing over this trip at Morphettville Parks when outclassed on paper but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Cuban Waters. Back on the home deck, she’s dangerous at a price.

Race 6. (19:45) Alf Blamey Memorial Hcp (C1) 1200m

Back Me

Looks a race in two but I am sticking with 1 El Tercero (Bet Now: $2.60). Just a win I thought first up at this track/distance but he was strong enough to the line and did what he had to. He has looked talented since day one and off a win, hard fit, he appeals.

Danger

2 Amoursirra (Bet Now: $2.50) is a Price/Kent trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since Sep 4 at Sandown when on speed and she tried hard but bumped into Zloties, who looks borderline Stakes class, so that form reads well, good racing style and has jumped out well.

Long Shot

5 Warmosa (Bet Now: $9.50) is a knockout chance. He ran over this trip at Sale last time out when wide no cover on speed throughout and was game in defeat I thought. Better run in transit, he is a knockout hope against this lot.

Race 7. (20:15) Van Steensel Timbers (Bm64) 1400m

Back Me

7 King Of Enterprise (Bet Now: $2.30) has eyes on better races, you’d assume, so with that in mind, he takes beating second up. He resumed over this track/distance when off speed and was held up at times before eventually getting clear and was very good late in the piece behind Peel The Stickers. Gets B Shinn on now and fitter, he’s the one to beat.

Danger

3 Akicita (Bet Now: $5.50) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Gave them a start and a beating to win fresh at Sale before going to Sandown when far from disgraced in defeat behind a Group l horse of the future, King Zephyr, so that form clearly reads well for this.

Long Shot

1 Capital Asset (Bet Now: $13.00) comes to Victoria after racing in NSW where he didn’t quite measure up at metro level, but I will say he contested races that were far deeper than what he faces here, so despite the weight impost, I say he’s in the mix.

Race 8. (20:45) Hygain Tracktorque (Bm64) 1400m

2 Queen Of Tuscany (Bet Now: $7.50) for me in the get out. Robbie Griffiths trained mare that ran over 1400m at Sandown when off speed and seemed to have her chance but she was far from disgraced in defeat behind Proved, who looks Stakes class. Gate is tricky, but she looks hard to beat.

Danger

4 Sirius Statement (Bet Now: $3.40) has a good track/distance record and a good racing style. Strong winner two back before going here again and was game in defeat behind Peel The Stickers. She’ll press forward from the tricky draw and be around the mark.

Long Shot

6 Imarichgirl (Bet Now: $15.00) is a former Queenslander that now finds herself with Jack Laing. She doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but she is a mare that can launch late and if the tempo is genuine, she’s good enough to finish over the top.

BEST BET: Race Two Number 11 Tuscaloosa Gem

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 3 Daniel Boone

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 2 Queen Of Tuscany
